The 2026 Jamia Mosque Nairobi Annual Zonal Qur’an Competition is gathering pace, with zonal contests set to take place across five locations in Nairobi.
The competition officially begins on Saturday, 3rd January 2026 (14th Rajab), at Masjid As Salaam in South C. This will be followed by contests at Masjid Al Farouq, Pumwani, on Saturday, 10th January (21st Rajab), Masjidur Rahma, Biafra, on Saturday, 17th January (28th Rajab), Al Aqsa Mosque in Komarock on Saturday, 24th January (5th Sha’aban), and concludes with the final zonal round at Al Amin Mosque along Juja Road on Saturday, 31st January 2026 (12th Sha’aban).
This year’s competition brings together participants from five zones, who will compete in four memorisation categories: Five Juz, Ten Juz, Fifteen Juz, and Thirty Juz. Contestants will be assessed on memorisation accuracy, Tajweed (rules of recitation), Makharij (proper articulation of letters), and overall fluency.
The top three performers in each category will qualify for the finals, which are scheduled to be held at Jamia Mosque during the Holy Month of Ramadhan.
In parallel, Jamia Mosque has announced that registration for the Annual Ramadhan Quiz Show, which airs on Jamia TV during Ramadhan, is now open. Registration for the quiz will run from Monday, 5th January 2026 (16th Rajab) to Friday, 16th January 2026 (27th Rajab).
The Ramadhan Quiz Show will commence with the first knockout rounds scheduled for Tuesday to Thursday, 3rd–5th February 2026 (15th–17th Sha’aban), followed by the second knockout rounds from Tuesday to Thursday, 10th–12th February 2026 (22nd–24th Sha’aban). The semi-final will be held on Saturday, 7th March 2026 (18th Ramadhan), while the grand final is set for Sunday, 8th March 2026 (19th Ramadhan), to be broadcast live.
Meanwhile, the Jamia Mosque Annual Girls’ Qur’an Competition is expected to take place on Thursday, 19th February, Saturday, 21st February, and Sunday, 22nd February 2026 (2nd, 4th, and 5th Ramadhan) at the Jamia Multi-Purpose Hall. The finals of the Jamia Annual Boys’ Qur’an Competition will be held on Thursday, 26th February, and Saturday, 28th February 2026 (9th and 11th Ramadhan). The programme will conclude with a prize-giving and closing ceremony on Sunday, 1st March 2026 (12th Ramadhan).
The annual competitions continue to play a key role in nurturing Qur’anic excellence among young Muslims, while strengthening community engagement during the holy season.
